About Me

My photo
Brisbane, Australia
I came to Brisbane in January 2009 to be near my family. From teaching art to secondary school students I moved in to working with people with special needs, and now am making little friends for children - surprise, surprise! I have always loved creating things with my hands - pictures, clothes, jewellery, gardens, food, and now toys. We have recently sold our house in Victoria so are now seriously relocating = furniture sorting and disposing, deciding what's imperative to bring and what's not, then doing it. You don't need much and it's a relief to simplify, once again. As my mother says, "There aren't any pockets in a shroud." Cheers Penny May 2010

It is 11pm, despite what time zone this computer thinks I'm in, and I've eaten too much chocolate which is still zinging around in my system. Lying there trying to trick myself to sleep, I thought, this blog can be about anything, and I can indulge myself however I wish...a thought not novel to those experienced bloggers, but new to me, the novice in these matters. And then I thought, this is a way of staying in touch with friends who I miss down south, or wherever they may be.

Some of them, well, 3 exactly, have been to visit. Shirl and Andi had a whirwind visit before bussing down to Byron to wade through the mud and rain to hear great music at Byron Blues and Roots Festival. We made the most of every minute, walked for kilometres and ate ourselves silly, indulged in some very nice wine from the very nice wine shop around the corner and saw as many sights of Brisbane as we could pack in to 36 hours.
